Tonga Tsunami: Relief efforts are being hampered by ash....

Tonga is covered in smoke and ash from volcanic eruptions. Runways are being disrupted due to ash. As a result, donor countries are struggling to carry out relief operations there after the disaster.

Due to the gradual eruption, the dire situation of the country has started to become clear. New Zealand is trying to send other aid, including drinking water, to Tonga. But as Tonga's main airport is shrouded in shadow, landing is not possible. This was reported by BBC.Earlier last Saturday, a dormant volcano erupted beneath the Pacific Ocean. It triggered a tsunami that hit the Pacific nation of Tonga. Apart from this, ash and gas started coming out from the volcano which at one stage covered the whole country. Satellite images of the ash and gas scattering were captured. It is known that the ash cloud reached a height of 20 km from the sea level.
